  7.     Mother: Nafja Demirovic, 65, homemaker, finished high school
  8.     Daughter: Arina Bucalovic, 26, refugee and (pre-war) shop 
  9.     owner, finished accountancy school degree
  10.     Arina's Husband: Nedzad Bucalovic, 23, soldier and (pre-war) 
  11.     hairdresser
  12.     Arina and Nedzad's Daughter: Nadja Bucalovic, 2

  14. 3.    How much time does your family spend together at 
  15.     work and play?
  16.     Because of the war, Nedzad is often out on the front line, and 
  17.     we don't spend much time together. We have no activities 
  18.     together outside of the apartment.

  20. 4.    How far do you commute to work or school?
  21.     Nedzad fights the Serbs in Radivoce, a position in the 
  22.     mountains, 10 kilometers northeast of Sarajevo.

  24. 5.    What kinds of transportation do you use? How much time is
  25.     spent in transport?
  26.     Since December 1992, Nedzad has walked. He fights the 
  27.     Serbs in Radivoce, a position in the mountains, 10 kilometers 
  28.     northeast of Sarajevo. Every 8 days he walks back home and 
  29.     rests for 6 days.

  31.     Lokman's car stands in the building's garage. It was a Yugo, a 
  32.     copy of the Soviet Lada; now it's a piece of metal full of 
  33.     shrapnel holes, hidden under an old plastic cafe terrace 
  34.     umbrella. He bought it 14 years ago and never had any 
  35.     problems with it, until some shells fell too close to it. He used to 
  36.     drive the Demirovics onto the Dalmatian coast during holidays.

  38. 6.     Do you actively practice your religion? How does it affect 
  39.     your daily life and community?
  40.     We are Muslims, but we don't practice.
